The 2024 China- South Korea Personal Information Cooperation Forum was held in Beijing on October 24th, with the theme of "Compliance Governance and Cooperation on Personal Information Protection in the Era of Doing Business Global ." The forum was jointly organized by Internet Society of China (ISC), Korea Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), and Korea Internet Security Agency (KISA).

Ms. Chen Jiachun, Vice President and Executive Deputy Secretary General of ISC, and Mr. Lee Jeong-soo, Science and Technology Counselor of the Republic of Korea Embassy in China, attended the forum and delivered opening remarks, and a number of experts and enterprise representatives from China and South Korea attended the forum.

In her speech, Ms. Chen Jiachun emphasized the importance of cooperation in the field of personal information for the healthy development of the digital economy of the two countries and put forward three suggestions: first, compliance as the basis, enterprises should comply with laws and regulations to ensure that the handling of personal information is under related law frameworks; second, innovation as the driving force, to encourage technological innovation in order to enhance the ability to protect personal information; third, cooperation as a bridge, to strengthen the exchanges and cooperation between all parties, and to promote the establishment of a fair, transparent and safe personal information protection rules.

The forum further promoted cooperation between China and South Korea on personal information protection, helping companies reduce compliance costs and improve governance efficiency.
